Integrative Massage is the application of specific treatment protocols targeting the specific problem(s) each client presents with. It's the practical application of numerous/various techniques to treat a client's specific areas of dysfunction/need during a massage session. It's a full body massage designed for the individual client.
It may include Swedish, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Myofascial Release and Range of Motion (ROM) modalities to obtain the desired goal of treatment. Hot Stones, Cupping, Aromatherapy and the use of moist, hot towels may be used to further enhance your experience. There is no extra fee for these additions to your session.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session (provided there is no contraindication for increased fluid intake).
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and re-balance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs and skeletal structures of the body. Direct Myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia which allows increased blood circulation and relief from pain.
Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance and greater flexibility. Essential oils are added to the oil (if preferred) to enhance your experience.
Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are placed at specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing and rejuvenating.
Cupping is a practice used in traditional medicine in several parts of the world including China and the Middle East. It involves creating suction (localized) on the skin using a glass or plastic cup. Negative pressure is created in the cup either by suction created by using a hand pump device or machine (MediCupping VacuTherapy). By creating suction and vacuum pressure, Cupping is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue and bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues. It assists in moving deep inflammation to the skin surface for release and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways.
People get cupping for many purposes including to help with pain, inflammation, aid in increasing circulation/blood flow, relaxation, well-being and as a type of deep tissue massage.
Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than most other forms of massage therapy. It's also called Thai Yoga massage because I use my hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like postures and stretches while you "rest" comfortably on a large pad placed on the ground.
Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. No oil is applied so you are fully dressed during the session. A single Thai massage session will help you release stress, relieve pain and help you function more effectively so you can enjoy doing the things you love with more ease.
Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home, workplace or desired location. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.
A yoga session tailored to your needs, offering you an opportunity to feel grounded, energetic or relaxed.
